To welcome next passengers, the cleaning crews check each seat, remove litters and adjust the seats’ direction.

When Shinkansen is ready to depart, they open the doors with an announcement and passengers start to get on. Then, the conductor and station attendants check the safety and give the signal for departure. After the doors are closed, it’s time to leave!

Safe operation of Shinkansens
Shinkansens must be inspected regularly depending on travel distance and period. Every part of Shinkansens is checked in the factory. If any defect is found, they repair it immediately. That is why many people always feel safe to take Shinkansens.

Inspection
The rails and the electric equipments need to be inspected to operate Shinkansen safe. They use the special Shinkansen for this inspection. It runs without passengers.

Shinkansens control room
Shinkansens run under the Centralized Traffic Control (CTC) system.
The CTC system displays train locations. In case of disaster or trouble and delay in the operation, the CTC sytem directs the Shinkansens to run safe.
